About Our Founder
Tonda Taylor Bean is dedicated to helping youth and emerging adults get well positioned and launched in life. She completed her undergraduate work at Howard University and went on to earn an MBA from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a Master of Science Organization Development (applied behavioral science with a business orientation) from American University in conjunction with the NTL Institute. More than that, she is the mother of two very different daughters whom she guided through the public school system (K-12). Despite the presence of academic achievement gaps, her children were able to achieve outstanding results and gained entry to two of the most prestigious universities in the United States (Harvard & New York University). With her guidance, students have also been accepted to Boston University, Drexel, Northeastern, Creighton, Howard, Spelman, Saint John's of New York, and American University as well as the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).
Ms. Bean served as a volunteer with the Girl Scouts for 20 years and as a leader for 10 years. During that time she came into contact with girls from highly acclaimed private schools (such as National Cathedral School, Stone Ridge, and Holton-Arms), DC public schools, DC Charter Schools, Prince Georges County Public Schools and Montgomery County Public Schools. What she noticed is that the there were important life skills missing no matter where the students were enrolled. As a means of preparing her scouts for life after high school, Ms. Bean developed her series of life skills workshops.
The absence of skills and knowledge in areas such as time management, resume building, and communications presents a barrier to success in college and in life. Wisdom In Minutes was founded in an effort to offer this knowldege to you.
